This painting is loosely inspired by Eden, Eden, Eden, a radical novel by Pierre Guyotat, first published in 1970 and immediately censored by the French government, before being republished in 1981. Against a backdrop of war for independence, colonial occupation, and raw sexuality, Guyotat’s writing unfolds with a relentless rhythm that offers no respite to the reader.

Cette peinture s’inspire librement du roman Éden, Éden, Éden de Pierre Guyotat, un texte radical publié en 1970, immédiatement censuré par le gouvernement français avant d’être republié en 1981. Sur fond de guerre d’indépendance, d’occupation coloniale et de sexualité brute, l’écriture de Guyotat impose un rythme implacable qui ne laisse aucun répit au lecteur.
